Grzegorz KrawiecGrzegorz Krawiec

Born on 22nd November 1980 in Przemysl (Poland). Between 1987 and 1999 he studied classical guitar in Artur Malawski State Music School in Przemysl with Prof. Wojciech Mandzyn. In 2004 he graduated from the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in the guitar class of Prof. Marcin Zalewski. Since 2002 he has been teaching at State Music School No1 in Warsaw. 

From his secondary music school on he has won numerous guitar competitions:

- 1st Prize in the National Classical Guitar Competition in Koszalin, Poland (in a duo with guitarist Andrzej Krawiec - his brother), (1996).

- 1st Prize in the International Competition for Chamber Music Ensembles with Classical Guitar 'Ghitaralia' in Przemysl, Poland (in a duo with guitarist Andrzej Krawiec), (1996).

- 1st Prize in the International Guitar Competition after Czesław Drozdziewicz in Krynica, Poland (1996).

- Grand Prix, 1st Prize and Special Prize for the best performance of work by Jaquin Rodrigo in the International Guitar Competition after Kazimierz Sosinski in Gdansk, Poland (1997).

- 1st Prize in the International Guitar Competition in Bath, Great Britain (1998).

- 2nd Prize in the International Guitar Competition after Andres Segovia in La Herradura, Spain (2000). 

- Grand Prix in the International Competition for Chamber Music with Classical Guitar 'Ghitaralia' in Przemysl, Poland (in a duo with violinist Pawel Zalejski) (2000).

- 2nd Prize in the International Guitar Competition after Jan Edmund Jurkowski during 'Silesian Guitar Autumn' in Tychy, Poland (2000).

- 1st Prize and Special Prize for the best performance of a modern piece written after 1945 in the Guitar Competition after Karl Scheit in Wien, Austria (2002).

- 2nd Prize in the International Guitar Competition 'Gitarre Forum Wien' in Vienna, Austria (2003).

- 2nd Prize in the International Guitar Competition in Sernancelhe, Portugal (2003).

- 1st Prize in the International Guitar Competition in Gdansk, Poland (with Chopin Guitar Quartet) (2003).

- 2nd Prize in the International Guitar Competition in Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro (2005).

- 3rd Prize in the International Guitar Competition after Jan Edmund Jurkowski during 'Silesian Guitar Autumn' in Tychy, Poland (2006).

- 1st Prize (solo) and 2nd Prize (in a duo with guitarist Andrzej Krawiec) in the National Guitar Competition after Marek Sokołowski in Lublin, Poland (2007).

- 1st Prize in the International Guitar Competition after Rogerio Dontello in Jaroslaw, Poland (2008).

- Grand Prix in the International Guitar Competition in Olsztyn, Poland (2008). 

Grzegorz Krawiec has also received many awards: 'For Young Artists in Europe' - Padeborn (Germany), an award of the Minister of Culture and Art and the Mayor of Przemysl. He has won Austrian Music series after Bronislaw Huberman in Warsaw five times. He has been a scholarship holder of the Prime Minister of Poland, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, and the National Fund for Children. 

He has played in such great concert halls as: Witold Lutoslawski Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw, Polish National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna and Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. 

He has been repeatedly invited both to perform and give classes at music festivals in Poland and abroad (in Austria, Bulgaria, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Canada). 

His performances include solo recitals, chamber concerts (with Andrzej Krawiec and Chopin Guitar Quartet) as well as concerts with orchestras: (e.g. 'AUKSO' Chamber Orchestra of Tychy, Northumberland Orchestra of Port Hope in Canada, Royal Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw, 'Sinfonia Varsovia', 'Capella Bydgostiensis', 'Small Philharmonic' in Warsaw, Olsztyn Philharmonic Orchestra, Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra, Rzeszow Philharmonic Orchestra, Kielce Philharmonic Orchestra, Sudeten Philharmonic Orchestra in Walbrzych, Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra in Katowice and the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw). 

In 2005 he made his first solo CD 'Journey – Podroz' released by a Japanese label, MA Recordings. Included on the CD is the world premiere recording of 'Reminiscence' by Sylwester Laskowski. 'Journey-Podroz' received rave reviews and was voted by SoundStage! one of the 12 best classical CDs of 2005. 

In 2006 he premiered (together with Penderecki String Quartet) a quintet by Marcin Banasik 'The Great Bridge' for the guitar and a string quartet. (A tour in Canada with Penderecki String Quartet).

In 2008 he made a record, in a duo with his brother Andrzej, which features compositions by Zdzislaw Musial entitled 'Short Pieces for Two Guitars'. The CD was released together with the scores by 'ABSONIC'. 

In 2009, also for 'ABSONIC', he recorded a CD with the arrangements by Miroslaw Drozdzowski which is available under the title of 'USA Guitar'. 

In 2010 JBRecords released 'Dialogue' - another CD which he made with his brother Andrzej - featuring pieces by Polish and Spanish composers, and premiering, among other things, recordings of compositions by Andrzej Cwojdzinski and Marek Pasieczny.
